Résumé

"'Les Vieux Fourneaux' tells the story of three septuagenarians who have been friends since childhood: Antoine, Emile and Pierrot. They have each taken different paths in life, made different choices, started (or not started) their own families. Legacies, memories, fragments of a life that's almost over... but these three still have a reason to live, and a strong friendship to keep them going. 'Les Vieux Fourneaux' moves back and forth between the 50s and the present day, telling the tragic-comic tale of our time, with all of its social, political and cultural upheavals."

The Old Geezers and friends are back with a vengeance, protesting, detonating all manner of homemade bombs, shutting down trendy hipster bars, challenging the bread manufacturing industry, and planning fun mayhem. But Pierrot, our favorite anarchist, is heart-broken and depressed over the sudden reappearance of his long-lost love, and has vowed to find her at all costs after receiving a mysterious package in the mail containing a fortune in euros and her coded signature. Things aren't looking so good for the Geezers... one of them's in the hospital, the other's been arrested, and the third one is dealing with leaky roofs, drowning sheep, and eggs he doesn't approve of. Two new characters make their appearance in this book, and through their stories we are taken to shark-infested waters and treasure-hunting in the Pacific, to village fairs, rugby matches, broken hearts, and behavior unbefitting neighbors--which continues to this day. Thank goodness young Sophie and her puppets are around to keep these old men in check.
