The cover’s “Huckleberry Finn” vibe got me interested, and so did the art style, similar to Sempé and Hippolyte. Just to set your expectations right: Johann G. Louis is no Harper Lee and this story is very far from the subtle approach of “To Kill A Mockingbird”, even if both deal with institutionalized racism, prejudice and adults forcefully erasing childhood’s innocence. It’s a story aimed straight at kids, with anachronisms aplenty (modern vocabulary and modern views in 1930, for starters)... En lire plus
